Apply to this Program

ATTENTION:

Thank you for your interest in our graduate program, but due to recent budget cuts at the state level that impact all departments at Missouri State University, we will not be accepting students into our graduate program for the 2017-2018 academic year. However, we are in the process of establishing a Graduate Certificate Program in Cultural Resource Management Archaeology, which may be up and running as soon as this fall. Please watch this website for more information or contact Dr. Scott Worman if you are interested in pursuing this possibility or discussing the graduate program (FScottWorman@missouristate.edu).

Following your passion for anthropology at Missouri State

Admission to the Master of Science in Applied Anthropology program at Missouri State is competitive and limited. Only a small number of students can be accommodated. There is no deadline for admission, but you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Applications are considered on a continuous basis throughout the year, although students admitted by March 1st will receive first consideration for financial support for the following academic year.

The application process consists of two stages: application to the Graduate College and application to the anthropology program. Admission into the Graduate College does not guarantee admission into the anthropology program.

Applying to the Graduate College

If you meet the admission requirements for the Graduate College, follow the steps below to submit your application for admission:

  1. Complete the online application form
  2. Pay a non-refundable application fee of $35
  3. Submit an official copy of your transcript showing course work for your bachelor’s degree

If you received your bachelor’s degree from Missouri State, transcripts do not need to be sent. You may be asked to also submit scores for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) if you do not meet the Graduate College’s GPA admission requirements.

Within weeks, you will receive a response from the Graduate College indicating whether or not you have met the admission requirements. The Graduate College will then forward your application file to the anthropology program for further consideration.

Admission to the anthropology master’s program

Upon receipt of your application from the Graduate College, the anthropology program will determine whether you meet the GPA or GRE requirements of our program and notify you accordingly. Assuming you meet our requirements, we will ask for further information before reaching a decision on admission.
